Privacy Policy
Michelini is a reputation-intelligence platform for hospitality businesses. Restaurants connect their own social and review accounts, and we help them monitor public conversation about their venue and respond to guests. This policy explains what data we collect to do that, how we use it, and the choices available to you — whether you run a restaurant that uses Michelini or you are a guest whose public post or comment mentions one.
Data we collect
From restaurants that use Michelini:
- Account details: name, email address, and login credentials (passwords are handled by our authentication provider and never visible to us).
- Connected platform tokens: when a restaurant connects Instagram, Threads, Facebook, or Google, the platform issues us an access token scoped to the permissions shown on that platform's consent screen. We store these tokens securely to operate the connection.
About the restaurant's public presence:
- Public comments on the restaurant's own posts, public posts and captions that mention or tag the restaurant, public reviews of the restaurant, and public press coverage — along with the public username of the author and engagement counts (likes, comments, reach where the platform provides it).
- Story mentions of the restaurant. Story media is retained transiently for display and repost during the story's own 24-hour lifetime and is automatically deleted after 24 hours, consistent with Meta Platform Terms. Basic metadata (who mentioned the restaurant and when) is retained.
We collect public content only. We do not collect guests' private messages, private-account content, contact lists, or any data beyond what the platforms make available under the permissions the restaurant grants.
How we use data
- To show restaurants what is being said about them: dashboards, sentiment and topic analysis, alerting on negative reviews, and reporting.
- To help restaurants draft replies to public reviews and comments. Drafts are generated with AI assistance and are reviewed by the restaurant before anything is posted.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use guests' data for advertising. Content is processed to serve the restaurant it concerns, not to profile individual guests.
AI processing
To analyse sentiment and draft suggested replies, relevant public content (for example a review's text) is processed by third-party AI model providers under agreements that restrict them from using the data to train their models. The output is only ever shown to the restaurant the content concerns.
Service providers
We use a small set of processors to run Michelini: cloud hosting and databases (Vercel, Supabase), AI model providers (for the processing described above), social publishing infrastructure, and search/press indexing. Each receives only what it needs to provide its function to us.
Data retention and deletion
- Story media: deleted automatically 24 hours after the story is posted.
- Platform tokens: deleted when a restaurant disconnects an account or closes its Michelini account.
- Other content: retained while the restaurant's account is active, so trends and reports remain accurate; deleted on account closure or on a verified deletion request.
Your rights
Michelini is operated from Hong Kong and handles personal data in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO). Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold, and to object to certain processing. If you are a guest whose public comment or post appears in a restaurant's Michelini dashboard, you can exercise these rights by contacting us at hello@michelini.ai; deleting your content on the original platform also removes it from ongoing collection.
Security
Access tokens and credentials are stored encrypted at rest, access to production systems is restricted, and third-party access is governed by the agreements described above. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for the minimum data necessary and delete what we no longer need.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will update this page and revise the date above. Continued use of Michelini after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
